Converting EST to PST
Going from Eastern to Pacific time means subtracting three hours: a noon call in New York is 9:00 in the morning in Los Angeles. The result is the same all year because both regions change their clocks on the same dates.
Most people who search "EST" mean the local clock time on the US east coast. That clock is on EST (UTC-5) in winter and EDT (UTC-4) in summer; in 2026 EDT runs from March 8 until clocks go back on November 1. Most people who search "PST" mean the local clock time on the US west coast. That clock is on PST (UTC-8) in winter and PDT (UTC-7) in summer; in 2026 PDT runs from March 8 until clocks go back on November 1. The converter above follows the real clock for the date you pick, so you do not have to remember which half of the year it is. The live line and the table use the same rules.
West coast mornings are the tight part. An 8:00 start in New York is 5:00 in the morning in San Francisco, which is why east coast teams tend to book calls with the west coast from noon Eastern onwards.
The 24-hour table lists every hour of the Eastern day with its Pacific time, so you can see at a glance which Eastern hours fall into the previous evening or the early morning in the west.

FAQ
EST to PST: questions people ask
What time is 12pm EST in PST?
9:00 in the morning Pacific time. Eastern is always three hours ahead of Pacific.
Do I need to change anything in summer?
No. When the east coast is on EDT, the west coast is on PDT, so the three hour gap holds. The converter still checks the date for you.
Is 6pm EST after hours in California?
It is 3:00 in the afternoon in California, still the middle of the working day.
