AEST to EST converter

Sydney is between 14 and 16 hours ahead of New York, depending on the date. Both countries use daylight saving, but in opposite halves of the year, so the gap changes four times a year.

Most people who search "AEST" mean the local clock time in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra. That clock is on AEST (UTC+10) in winter and AEDT (UTC+11) in summer; in 2026 AEDT starts on October 4 and lasts until the first Sunday of April 2027. Most people who search "EST" mean the local clock time on the US east coast. That clock is on EST (UTC-5) in winter and EDT (UTC-4) in summer; in 2026 EDT runs from March 8 until clocks go back on November 1. In 2026 Sydney moves to AEDT on October 4; the US goes back to EST on November 1, which lengthens the gap by an hour. The US went forward on March 8 and Sydney went back to AEST on April 5, and both changes move the gap by an hour.
